High interest in logistics
In addition to younger applicants, the logistics sector is becoming all the more appealing to adult students and those changing careers. In addition to basic degrees, applicants are also interested in higher-level degrees in the field. At Kaukokiito, we work actively with educational institutions all over Finland. We believe in learning by doing, which is why we want to be part of as many career paths as possible, starting from the student years.
We also participate in recruitment events organised by educational institutions. The yards and loading areas of our terminals are in active use by students also outside the on-the-job learning periods, which makes us very happy!

Defence Forces’ driver training boosts the logistics sector
In addition to educational institutions, we also cooperate with garrisons. The Finnish Defence Forces offer driver training as part of military service, and many find employment in the transport sector after their duty ends. Read, for instance, the story of Salla – one of our drivers! Salla got interested in the transport industry while serving as a transport non-commissioned officer in Sodankylä. After training in military transport, she joined us through an apprenticeship and later became a permanent employee.
There are also many other pathways leading to the logistics sector. For example, we have a 50-person technology unit that uses the latest technologies to make everyday logistics easier, changing the future of the entire industry. Almost like a medium-sized software company – but at the heart of logistics.
