Kaukokiito involved in making the Tonttu film possible

Kaukokiito was involved in facilitating the filming of the Tonttu film, which premieres this week. Director Joonas Berghäll and Kaukokiito first crossed paths 20 years ago.

Kaukokiito was involved in the filming of director Joonas Berghäll’s film Tonttu in early 2025. Filming took place in Finnish Lapland and the capital region, and Kaukokiito was responsible for transporting the film equipment to the filming locations. A total of three full trailers were needed for the film, as an entire elf world with caves was built for the film.

– Logistically, the different filming locations and tight schedule presented challenges, but our professionals handled both the driving arrangements and transport superbly, says Henri Jussila from Kuljetusliike Ilmari Lehtonen Oy.

Kaukokiito and director Joonas Berghäll first crossed paths 20 years ago, when Berghäll, then a film student, contacted Kaukokiito and asked for help in transporting the equipment for his student project. At the time, there was only one pallet to transport.

Kaukokiito helped me when I was studying to become a producer, which is why I contacted them when planning the filming of Tonttu. As our logistics partner, Kaukokiito ensured that all transport needs for filming were taken care of on time. I would like to express my warmest thanks to Kaukokiito for their partnership, says Joonas Berghäll.

As a token of gratitude for Kaukokiito’s contribution, Berghäll made a thank-you video, which is shown before every screening of the film Tonttu at Finnkino cinemas.
